The term of Ludology (ludologie) (Etym. Latin Ludus = game) is used for a while in Europe to define the study of games (mainly board games) and has been "rediscovered" and is used now in many research papers on Video Games. Gonzalo Frasca dedicated a web site to this subject: ludology.org.
